Rod J McMillan, Non-Exec Director, Investor and Business Development Specialist
As a professional Non-Exec Director, investor, business development and performance improvement specialist., Rod is experienced in helping business owners and leaders with strategy, people, organisation structure, finance and commercial problem resolution.
Starting his commercial life at Trust Houses Forte for 5 years, Rod then became a divisional Managing Director of a small PLC at the age of 27.
In 1985 with 3 co-directors he performed a Management Buy-Out of an Electronic Office Supplies company, ISA International plc. ISA’s flotation on the full list of the London Stock Exchange followed 2 years later.
For the last 25 years Rod has worked as an independent Non-Executive Director or as a consultant to directors and owners of businesses across many different sectors, from international electronics manufacturing to food production to health.
Rod believes that business success is often about having the right people, on the board and in the management team, doing the right things; sometimes easier said than done. Business leaders can also need an independent and experienced outsider view to help resolve challenging commercial situations. It is sometimes necessary to be prepared to do ‘real work’ not just advise, and Rod always encourages his clients to invite him to do so.
This event is part of a Programme of Workshops and Training being delivered by Fife Economic Development on behalf of the Fife Economy Partnership to support businesses accessing new markets.
